Sharon Town Hall Meeting

We are going to hold a town hall meeting at the Catholic Church hall in Sharon, KS, on Wednesday 12/17/25 at 6:00 pm. We want everyone that lives in our zip code or who owns land and real estate in our zip code to be there.

This meeting will be about the possible data center that they are trying to put in our community. We want to hold an advisory style vote on the City of Sharon adopting a 3 mile zoning law that will give the people protection from large scale developments like this that could harm our community. This zoning can be very minimal in scope, it won’t raise your property taxes, and agriculture is exempt.

We have consulted with a zoning attorney and their law firm can get the zoning done for us for $7,500. We already have people offering to donate to pay the legal fees. This zoning law could be prepared by the end of January.

We need everyone at this meeting to tell all your neighbors!!

Barber County Commissioners Meeting

Attend the upcoming Barber County Commissioners meeting to stay informed and show support for our community. This is an important opportunity to hear updates, ask questions, and make sure our voices are represented as decisions impacting Sharon move forward. Your presence matters.

WE ARE ON THE AGENDA FOR 10:00 A.M.

Just some advice for anyone that plans to speak to the commissioners.

  1. Yes, they “work for us” BUT they are currently elected in these seats so just because they were voted in to do what’s best for the citizens doesn’t mean they will. Keep that in mind for future elections. (Say some prayers for guidance and for them to make good educated decisions that are in the best interest of the citizens they affect).

  2. Be respectful and present facts and information rather than taking an aggressive approach and placing blame. All of these new developments are new to many of us (even including the commissioners).

  3. Plan ahead. Communicate with the County and ask to be on the agenda. They set up different meetings during their commissioner meeting dates.

  4. Stay posted and informed. The commissioner meetings, minutes and link to the GoTo meeting are on the Barber County website. If you can’t attend in person you can listen online in real time. Many times we say we aren’t informed but we haven’t chose to be informed. It’s not the job of our Commissioners to make sure that every citizen is in the know. It’s their job to do their part so they can answer questions, and it’s our job to stay informed.

  5. Educating the public says a lot for these individuals taking time out of their work schedules and family time. Remember these names in the future when other elected positions may become available.
